Islamabad: Zhaslan Madiev, Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan has invited Pakistani IT companies to participate in the upcoming Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Digital Inclusion and Transformation, which will be held in Astana on September 3-5, 2024.

Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Digital Inclusion and Transformation aims to promote digitalization in key sectors of the Asia-Pacific region’s economy, coordinate digital projects’ implementation, expand Kazakhstan’s influence at the regional level, as well as increase the country’s exports of IT services.

Zhaslan Madiev, Minister extended the invitation during an online negotiations session held between the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhaslan Madiev, and Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunications of the Republic of Pakistan, Shaza Fatima Khawaja.

The interactive session was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Pakistan.

Highlighting the high-end transformation of IT technology in Kazakhstan, Zhaslan Madiev said Pakistani IT companies explore IT business opportunities offered through various platforms in the IT market of Kazakhstan, including online public services, financial technologies and the international technology park “Astana Hub” operating in Astana.

He said, “Astana Hub”, as a digital solutions center, is the largest international technology park of IT start-ups in Central Asia. And It has become a center for the development of innovative projects. The center aims to produce breakthrough IT companies, and to become a hotbed for the attraction of young and talented IT specialists from all over the world”.

Highlighting the economic impact Zhaslan Madiev said, “Over the past five years, our IT sector has grown tenfold to nearly $500 million annually”.

The Kazakh Minister informed his panelist about the the upcoming Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Digital Inclusion and Transformation, which will be held in Astana on September 3-5, 2024, expressing hope for the participation of the Pakistani side in this event.

In her remarks, Shaza Fatima Khawaja shared Pakistan’s experience in the IT industry, noting the government’s ambitious plans to increase the size of the IT market to $15 billion.

The Pakistani Minister expressed interest in intensifying cooperation with Kazakhstan, which will help stimulate bilateral ties in other areas as well.

As a result of the meeting, Kazakhstan and Pakistan agreed to establish a regular dialogue between the ministries and IT companies of the two countries, signing a Memorandum of Understanding and creating a Joint Working Group in the field of information technology.

Pakistan has huge potential as a global IT hub, and IT market is likely to boom, leading to scale up IT/ITeS export revenues to between $10 and $18 billion by 2028.
