On June 27, Tajikistan’s Somon Air started its flight operations in Pakistan as its first flight SMR 129 carrying fourteen passengers landed at New Islamabad International Airport from its capital city Dushanbe.
To mark this momentous occasion, a fire tenders from the Civil Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting Service presented a water cannon salute.
To celebrate this milestone, a small but delightful cake cutting ceremony was hosted by CAA authorities, and was graced by Governor KPK Faisal Karimkundi and Ambassador of Tajikistan to Pakistan Yusuf Sharifzoda.
Shaheen Airport Services Executive Director Air Commodore (Rtd) Wasim Ahmed Khan, General Manager Shaheen Airport Services Islamabad Air Commander (Rtd) Shahid Nadeem and Soman Air Chief Executive Officer expressed their satisfaction on this milestone.
Later in the day, Flight SMR 130 departed from Islamabad airport at approximately 02:45 pm, carrying 52 passengers on board for Dushanbe city, Tajikistan.
According to official sources, the Islamabad, Dushanbe flight will operate once a week on Thursdays utilizing the facility of Boeing 737 aircraft. After that, the frequency of flights will be increased.
In addition, Islamabad, Dushanbe flight will allow passengers to easily experience the cultural richness and wonders of both countries at an affordable cost.
