Delegations from colonized territories may be granted the opportunity to participate in the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan this year, according to Report.
Abbas Abbasov, the Executive Director of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG), has stated “We are already in talks regarding this matter. France has inflicted serious environmental damage on colonized territories.”
Abbasov further elaborated on Azerbaijan’s commitment to supporting independence movements, saying, “Azerbaijan’s cooperation with political parties and independence movements in Corsica, Melanesia, Polynesia, and the Caribbean and Antilles island groups, who have suffered from French colonialism, will continue not only in the political sphere but also in the areas of ecology and education.”
