Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday signed and issued a joint statement on deepening China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era.
The joint statement came on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Beijing, capital of China, on Thursday for two days at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.
The Russian leader made his comments during a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping
“It is absolutely crucial that the Russian-Chinese relations are not ad hoc contacts and are not aimed against anyone,” Putin said.
“Our cooperation in world affairs is one of the main stabilizing factors on the international stage. Together, we defend the principles of fairness and the democratic world order based on the multipolar realities and international law.”
Putin’s visit takes
President Xi and Putin will “have a detailed discussion on the entire range of issues related to the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation and determine the new directions for further development of cooperation between Russia and China,” the Kremlin stated.
They will “also have a detailed exchange of opinions on the most acute international and regional issues,” the statement of Kremlin added.
In recent years, both China and Russia expanded their bilateral relations.
President Putin’s trip to China will be his first foreign visit since he was reelected in March for a fifth term in office. The trip is his second visit to China in six months.
earlier, he traveled to Beijing in October 2023 to attend a forum on China’s Belt and Road Initiative, a project launched by Xi a decade ago to build global infrastructure and energy networks connecting Asia with Europe and Africa.
In a statement on Thursday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry stressed that good relations with Moscow are “conducive to peace, stability and prosperity of the region and the world at large.”
