Beijing:  Asian and Middle Eastern Airlines, Singapore Airlines claiming the top spot and Emirates clinching the third position, have dominated the rankings of the best international airlines in “World’s Best Awards” 2024, based on survey of 186,000 readers, and conducted by Travel + Leisure.

Travel + Leisure is a travel magazine based in New York City, New York. Published 12 times a year, it has 4.8 million readers

In “World’s Best Awards” for 2024, Singapore Airlines claimed the top spot, La Compagnie stood and Emirates got third position. The other iconic Asian airlines in the “Hall of Fame” were; All Nippon Airways (ANA), Qatar Airways, Korean Air, Japan Airlines (JAL), Thai Airways International, Etihad and EVA Air from Taiwan.

But surprisingly, no Chinese airline could claim spot in the list of Best International Airlines by Travel + Leisure.

Travel + Leisure conducts World’s Best Awards survey, wherein readers are asked to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe — to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Also, readers were asked to assess various airline operators based on the cabin comfort, in-flight service, customer service and value for money.

For the year 2024, over 186,000 T+L readers completed the survey. A total of more than 700,000 votes were cast across over 8,700 properties (hotels, cities, cruise lines, etc.).

Airlines were specifically rated on the criteria below:

  1. Cabin comfort
  2. In-flight service
  3. Customer service
  4. Value

For each characteristic, respondents could choose a rating of excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor. The final scores are averages of these responses.

In the survey of Travel + Leisure, Singapore Airlines claimed the top spot, The Singapore Airlines flies to more than 70 destinations across the world, and was praised especially for its in-flight service and cleanliness.

The readers praised the Singapore Airlines ‘s excellent service, specifically complimenting the food on board and each aircraft’s cleanliness. “They care about details,” one voter noted. And that’s a very important thing when you’re operating the world’s largest commercial aircraft (the A380) and flying the world’s longest route (just shy of 19 hours, New York to Singapore).

Here are best international airlines in the world, according to Travel + Leisure.
