Amir of Qatar Arrives in Iran to Express Condolences with Iranian People

Tehran, May 22: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani arrived in Tehran, capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran to express condolences to the Iranian people over the tragic death of President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions in a helicopter crash in the north of the country.

The head HH the Amir was welcomed upon arrival at Mehrabad International Airport (THR) by HE Minister of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare of the Islamic Republic of Iran Solat Mortazavi, and several senior Iranian officials as well as members of the Qatari embassy in Iran.

HH the Amir is accompanied by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and an official delegation.

President Ebrahim Raisi’s helicopter crashed in a mountainous region in northwestern Iran on 19 May.

Raisi was returning from the opening ceremony of a dam on the Araks river on the border with Azerbaijan, which was also attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Footage from the scene shows the helicopter crashing into a mountain peak. No official information about the cause of the crash has been released yet.
