Beijing: East-West connectivity came to realization when Air China’s inaugural flight CA445 touched down at Milan Malpensa International Airport of Italy at 6:24 am on July 29th local time, marking the official opening of Air China’s Chengdu Tianfu-Milan route.
The inaugural flight ceremony was attended by the Consul General of China in Milan, Liu Kan, SEA Milan Airports CEO Armando Brunini and Air China’s European General Manager, Ma Guodong.
The flight will be operated three times a week on a wide-body Airbus A350/900 aircraft.
The new route linking Chengdu city of China with Milan the fashion capital of Italy establishes air Silk Road, making mobility people of exchanges.
Air China Limited is the national flag carrier airline of the People’s Republic of China. It is headquartered in Shunyi, Beijing.
Located in northern Lombardy region of a metropolis in Italy, Milan is a global capital of fashion and design. The metropolis is home to the national stock exchange, it’s a financial hub also known for its high-end restaurants and shops.
Italy is one of China’s main trading partners in the European Union, and Milan is also an attractive tourist destination for Chinese citizens visiting Europe.
Chengdu, located in southwest China, is known for its long history, rich culture and breathtaking landscapes.
The opening of the link between the two cities will deepen relations between China and Italy and promote economic, cultural and tourist cooperation between the two destinations.
The opening of Milan and Chengdu route comes at when Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, is on an official visit to the People’s Republic of China from 28 to 31 July. Italy left Belt and Road Initiative, a global development project that aims to build transport and digital infrastructure to link Asia, Africa and Europe
With the addition of the Chengdu-Milan route, #AirChina’s international and regional flight network from Chengdu Tianfu International Airport has expanded to 14 destinations.
Passengers can now jet off to Milan, Frankfurt, London, Manila, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Kathmandu, Colombo, Bangkok, Phuket, Singapore, Jakarta, Taipei of China’s Taiwan, and Hong Kong, China. #AirChinaMoments

With four flights per week now served by Air China per week, Malpensa has reaffirmed its role as a bridge to Asia with a growth of 38% of passengers this year. Overall, Malpensa’s traffic has increased by 10% compared to 2023 with 20 more destinations and eight new airlines totalling 180 destinations.
