Islamabad: Ahead of the official visit of the Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shahboz Sharif to the Republic of Tajikistan, the manage team of Somon Air met with the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan Faisal Karim Kundi the office of Somon Air on Tuesday.
Development issues on the Dushanba-Islamabad-Dushanba flight, which was resumed by the airline on June 27, 2024 were focused.
General Director of “Somon Air” Abdulkosim Valiev noted that the airline plans to increase the frequency in this direction to two flights per week.
The meeting was held with the participation of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Yusuf Sharifzod.
Somon Air of Tajikistan paves way for development of Air Silk Road between Tajikistan and Pakistan
On June 27, Tajikistan’s Somon Air started its flight operations in Pakistan as its first flight SMR 129 carrying fourteen passengers landed at New Islamabad International Airport from its capital city Dushanbe which marked a new milestone in bilateral relations.

Later in the day, Flight SMR 130 departed from Islamabad airport at approximately 02:45 pm, carrying 52 passengers on board for Dushanbe city, Tajikistan.
According to official sources, the Islamabad, Dushanbe flight will operate once a week on Thursdays utilizing the facility of Boeing 737 aircraft. After that, the frequency of flights will be increased.
In addition, Islamabad, Dushanbe flight will allow passengers to easily experience the cultural richness and wonders of both countries at an affordable cost.
