    Beijing: The 10th Nishan Forum on World Civilizations, themed “Traditional Culture and Modern Civilization,” will commence from July10-11 in Nishan, Qufu county, the hometown of Confucius, a Chinese philosopher.

    Some 400 international guests from 63 countries, including representatives from international organizations, delegates from sister cities, and renowned scholars across the world will gather in Qufu located in Shandong Province of China.

    The Nishan Forum on World Civilizations, themed “Traditional Culture and Modern Civilization,” will commence from July10-11 in Nishan aims to engage in dialogue on civilizations, better address global challenges and promote the progress of humanity.

    The scholars and researchers will gather in Confucius’ hometown to discuss and explore possibilities for the world to resolve conflicts and promote harmony.

    The 10th Nishan Forum will include six sub-themes such as “Civilizational Exchanges and Mutual Learning under Global Challenges” and will host a Sino-Italian Classical Civilization Dialogue to facilitate profound discussions between these ancient civilizations.

    “The 10th Nishan Forum would build a bridge for dialogue between ancient and modern times, where scholars and cultural envoys from various countries can share their cultural characteristics, enhance mutual understanding, dispel misunderstandings and prejudices, and achieve numerous consensuses, said, Yang Chaoming, distinguished professor at the Advanced Institute for Confucian Studies at Shandong University.

    Nishan Forum on World Civillizations, or Nishan Forum for short, was initiated by Mr. Xu Jialu, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Ninth and Tenth National People’s Congress, and it is named after Nishan—the birthplace of Confucius, a great thinker and educator in ancient China.

    The forum promotes dialogue among different civilizations and aims to push forward cultural exchanges between China and other countries and to promote the construction of a more harmonious world by launching international and open-minded talks and speeches, via both scholarly conference and folk exchanges.

    The forum is held every two years at its permanent venue—Nishan Shengyuan College.

    Qufu is considered the cradle of Chinese Confucianism, and the Nishan Forum is also the first world-class forum hosted by Chinese nationalities and having extensive influence both at home and abroad since it was first held in 2010.
