Meike van Ginneken, the Water Envoy for the Kingdom of the Netherlands, has expressed readiness to work closely with the government of Azerbaijan and the COP29 presidency to ensure the success of the upcoming climate conference, set to take place in Baku this November.
According to Report, during her speech at the ADA University session titled “Water at the Center of Climate Change Action,” van Ginneken emphasized the need to focus on both mitigating the effects of climate change and adapting to them. She highlighted the central role that water plays in this context.
The envoy noted that they will work with the government of Azerbaijan and the COP presidency to ensure that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) is a success in Baku.
A key topic of discussion at the Baku climate conference will be the creation and implementation of advanced environmental solutions.
The Special Envoy also noted the crucial role of cooperation at the level of international organizations for sustainable water resource management.
COP29 will serve as an important platform for discussing and implementing cutting-edge ecological solutions, she added.
She also noted Azerbaijan’s remarkable contribution to solving water problems and underlined the importance of continuing joint work in this area.
