Islamabad: Germany, a major trader partner of Pakistan, has signed a cooperation MoU with Pakistan authorities to establish a Business Help Desk in Pakistan, aimed on advancing economic development cooperation.
The cooperation MoU was signed during meeting of Pakistan’s Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan and Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Svenja Schulze in Islamabad on Wednesday.
During the meeting, both the counterparts held talks focusing on advancing economic collaboration, with a particular emphasis on sustainable business practices and labor standards, the importance of international compliances.
The discussion highlighted National Compliance Center, an initiative led by the Ministry of Commerce to promote labor compliance and social responsibility in Pakistan
Officials sources stated the new cooperation initiative will serve as a central hub for local businesses to access information, training on sustainable supply chains, the German supply chain resources strengthen German Pakistan economic partnership.
Commenting on the cooperation initiative, German ambassador to Pakistan appreciated the initiative by stating “Looking forward to deeper collaboration between Pakistan and Germany, particularly in supporting SMEs and advancing the National Compliance Center’s initiatives”.
