Azerbaijan: COP29 is a pivotal event for global decision-making, according to Hande Harmanci, the World Health Organization (WHO) representative in Azerbaijan.
According to Report, speaking at a high-level panel discussion titled “Pathway to COP29: Sustainable and Resilient Future” in Baku, Harmanci emphasized the immense responsibility required to address climate change issues.
“We are currently preparing for another multilateral decision-making process – COP29. This is undoubtedly an existential problem – climate change. But this time, we have nowhere to run and hide. As far as we know, there is no other planet where we could go and start over,” Harmanci noted.
COP29 is set to take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, in November, following the decision made at the COP28 plenary session held in Dubai on December 11, 2023. The event is expected to attract around 70,000 to 80,000 international guests to the Azerbaijani capital.
